Golden leaves, golden milk

Change of season, it definitely feels like fall now! The air is crisp, leaves are falling, let's get ready for this new time of the year! What is more comforting and soothing than a golden milk?

"Automn killed the summer with the softest kiss."

It looks like sunshine in a cup, is full of delicious and beneficial spices, and tastes yummy!

All ingredients have been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian medicine.

Let food be your medicine, as Hippocrates said so wisely.

And without guilt!

Just enjoy!

Recipe

Here is a recipe (for exact measures, look online, I tend to just sprinkle randomly or according to my mood! There are plenty to choose from)

Ingredients:

  • Coconut milk (light one, that you use for breakfast - you can add some "real" coconut milk for more density)

  • Tumeric (main ingredient, thus the color)

  • Fresh ginger

  • Cinnamon

  • Cardamom

  • Sweetener if you feel like it, such as maple syrup (I didn't put any)

  • Coconut oil (optional) - it helps assimilate tumeric

  • Black pepper (optional) - it duplicates the benefits of curcumin

Just serve & drink!

Some benefits of this delicious elixir:

Tumeric: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties

Ginger: anti-inflammatory and antioxidant good for digestion

Cinnamon: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, has antibacterial, anti-fungal properties and it lowers blood sugar

Cardamom: antioxidant, it lowers blood sugar, lowers blood pressure, anti-inflammatory...

black pepper: its piperine compound helps relieve nausea, headaches and poor digestion. It has anti-inflammatory properties. Combined with tumeric, it enhances the absorption of the latter, by up to 2000 %!

Combined with coconut oil and you get the perfect trio for best absorption: coconut oil, black pepper and tumeric.

"And just like that, Summer fell into Fall."
